According to research by insurer Axa, eight out of ten people say they are concerned about their financial health, with many admitting their worries are affecting their performance at work, the Telegraph reports.
More than a third of the employees questioned said their `financial concerns` prevented them from working to their full potential, with around 5% admitting they have actually taken time off work during the past year because of their debt worries.
The issues concerning most people are keeping on top of their bills and repaying debt.
As part of its `My Budget Day` initiative, the insurer is calling for companies to give staff 15 minutes each week in which they can manage their finances.
A spokesperson for company Gregory Pennington commented: “Being in debt can be a highly stressful experience – but it is important to understand that there is help available.
